Event description

Description

This is a regular 6 Mile Guided Walk that takes place on the third Wednesday of the month.

We meet at 10.30am at the Melbourne Arm Visitor Moorings - please park in the village and walk along the private road to the left of The Melbourne Arms Pub.

The walk takes you along the towpath, past Grade II Listed brick bridges and locks, before looping around Bielby Arm and back again to Melbourne Arm. A volunteer guide will give you an insight into the canal's history, its wildlife and the current restoration projects taking place.

The walk is 6 miles (fairly flat), and the towpath is grassy and uneven in places so walking boots are recommended. The walk lasts around 3 hours.

Whilst you do not need a ticket and can turn up on the day, it really is helpful for us as organisers if you could book via Eventbrite!

Note: The end of this walk coincides with the start of 'Tea @ Two' in Melbourne Methodist Chapel - this is an afternoon tea style fundraiser run by the local community. Whilst it is not affiliated with the Canal & River Trust or this event in any way, it is a very nice way to finish off the walk should you so wish!
