MAKING PIES - 6 workshops for the closet poet

The work is in part focused on techniques, from rhythm and rhyming, to alliteration and dissonance. At the same time, it is just as much about building confidence and the cohesion of the:

  • Physical,
  • Intellectual,
  • Emotional, and
  • Spiritual,...hence the PIES.

Participants need only bring themselves, but if you have work, whether complete or in progress, please have it with you.

City of Poets promotes everyone as a poet, and considers poetry, like music, to be a unique individual expression, with healing power for individuals and beyond.

The workshops begin on Sunday 12th October 2025 and runs weekly six times until 16th November 2025.

Classes usually run for over an hour, but complete in under 90 minutes.

Course dates :

  • Sun 12th Oct - 11am to 12.30pm
  • Sun 19th Oct - 11am to 12.30pm

  • Sun 9th Nov - 11am to 12.30pm
  • Sun 16th Nov - 11am to 12.30pm

What people have said about attending the MAKING PIES workshops

"Whatever way I may have found to express my poetic voice [this] has been fundamental to how it has actually grown."

"The confidence that I do have (and still very tender!) has come about through [this]. I will always be grateful for that."

"Starting to write was like falling through a doorway into an entirely new place. [This] opened the door."

What if it's fully booked?

As much of the course is participant led, we are unable to work with more than 6 people at any time so if the workshops appear as fully booked, please reach out to glasgowcityofpoets@gmail.com to join the waiting list.

This course will be led by Anne Sikking, co-founder of City of Poets, licensed instructor, twice poet-laureat and published writer. You can find out more here: https://www.annesikking.com
