Frequently asked questions

Is the Heart of Newhaven easy to find and is there parking available?

There's always lots going on at The Heart of Newhaven, the doors will be open and you'll find the drawing studio on the top floor. There's no lift, it's on the second floor. There's on-street unrestricted parking outside on Main street Newhaven. The Edinburgh tram terminus at Newhaven is near by.

What if I am a complete beginner or have not drawn or painted for a while?

The course is designed for all abilities, Sheila will guide you through with tips and encouragement whatever your skill level. The class is a relaxed, friendly and supportive environment.

What equipment will I need?

I will send out an equipment list with the basics you'll need, easy to purchase items that don't need to cost too much. A simple A3 cartridge paper pad would be fine or some tinted paper for the sessions when we are using pastel chalks or charcoal.

What if I miss a week?

I can't refund if you miss a week, however I can email you a detailed brief and you'll be able to see what the others in the class have created that week on our Instagram page @sheilajardineartclass

Will the class be at a table or an easel ?

We have tables, easels and drawing boards.

Is the class suitable for children?

The class is designed for adults.

Can I have a look at the students' work from past classes?

Some of the students' work is posted on our Instagram page @sheilajardineartclass

Can I buy a voucher to give the course as a gift?

I would be delighted to provide a gift card which you can present to friends or family. It's a great gift to give particularly for someone who's a little reluctant and just needs some encouragement.

will there be coffee and tea available?

Yes we have coffee and tea available.
