About this event

  • 1 hour

Emotion art therapy utilises the profound ability of artistic expression to delve into your innermost thoughts and emotions that reside beneath the surface.

In this nurturing space, you are guided and fully supported to unlock a new toolkit for release and self-discovery. Beyond the canvas, the act of creating art transcends boundaries, fostering a deeper understanding of yourself and the world around you.

We reveal that painting is more than a beautiful experience; it’s a journey that positively impacts various aspects of life. Regardless of age, it encourages the freedom to express yourself without judgment, release inhibitions and fosters understanding and connection.

This workshop helps you to explore your emotions through art, and utilise the visual arts for processing emotions to facilitate self-expression and communication with the goal of improving psychological wellbeing.

During the workshop we split the groups into 7-11 and 12-15 year olds, and from here our offerings include a 6-week personalised 1-1 program and monthly group workshops for both adults and children.

*Under 11’s parent or guardian must remain present on site in vicinity for the duration of workshop, our relaxation room, our courtyard or taking a stroll on the estate is possible.

Benefits:

Emotional Expression: Art provides a non-verbal and expressive outlet for emotions that may be challenging to articulate verbally. It allows individuals to communicate and process complex emotions in a creative and symbolic manner.

Stress Reduction: Engaging in art-making can act as a stress-reliever by diverting attention from daily pressures and promoting a state of relaxation. The process of creating art can be meditative, calming the nervous system.

Self-Exploration: Through the creation of art, individuals can gain insights into their thoughts, feelings, and subconscious mind. It encourages self-reflection and a deeper understanding of one’s inner world.

Empowerment: Art-making provides a sense of control and empowerment, allowing individuals to make choices and express themselves authentically. This empowerment can extend beyond the art session into other aspects of life.

Catharsis: The act of creating art can be cathartic, helping individuals release pent-up emotions and unresolved issues. This emotional release contributes to a sense of relief and mental clarity.

Enhanced Communication: For those who may find verbal communication challenging, art offers an alternative form of expression. It can improve communication skills and provide a bridge for individuals to convey their experiences.

Boosted Self-Esteem: Successfully completing art projects, regardless of perceived artistic skill, can boost self-esteem and confidence. It emphasises the process over the end result, fostering a sense of accomplishment.

Coping Skills Development: Emotion Art Therapy equips individuals with healthy coping mechanisms. It encourages the development of adaptive strategies to manage stress, anxiety, and other emotional challenges.

Improved Mood: Engaging in creative activities stimulates the release of endorphins, promoting a positive mood. The use of colors and artistic expression can contribute to an overall sense of joy and well-being.

Connection with Others: Group-based Emotion Art Therapy sessions foster a sense of community and connection. Sharing and witnessing others’ creative processes can create a supportive environment for emotional exploration.

Emotion Art Therapy, with its diverse benefits, is a holistic approach that recognises the inherent connection between artistic expression and emotional well-being. It provides a unique avenue for self-discovery, healing, and personal growth.
