Event description

Description

Hi, I'm David Webb. Some of you will know me from Facebook, or as someone you've seen at the many concerts I've attended over the years. Some of you will also know that this year I was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive type of thyroid cancer. I'm fighting it every inch of the way, but know that it's a battle I will eventually lose.

Good friends have rallied round and we decided that some good should come of my misfortune. As a result Webbstock was born! This will be a night of fabulous music in the beautiful setting of St Martin's Church.

Webbstock features some of my favourite artists:

  • White Sail: A York-based folk trio with a glorious blend of harmony vocals, guitar, mandolin, Celtic harp, Appalachian dulcimer, schruti box, trumpet, flute, woodwind & percussion!

  • Luna Rossa: The acoustic off-shoot of prog-rockers Panic Room and featuring the vocal delights of Anne-Marie Helder. Luna Rossa performed at St Martin's last year and everyone agreed it was a truly special, magical evening.

  • Heather Findlay: Perhaps best known from her time with Mostly Autumn, Heather has more recently emerged as a very successful solo artist. Known for her magical, evocative voice and an ability to interpret and inhabit a range of styles with a mix of power and feeling, Heather is one of the finest vocalists working in music today.

Webbstock will be raising much needed funds for two very deserving cancer charities:

  • MacMillan Cancer Support: From the moment of diagnosis, through treatment and beyond, we're right there for anyone living with cancer, offering emotional, physical and financial support.

  • Milton Keynes Hospital Cancer Centre Appeal: Raising funds for the new cancer centre due to open later this year, which will overcome the need for cancer patients having to travel to Northampton, or Oxford for treatment.

Don't miss this very special one-off event!

FAQs

Where is Fenny Stratford?

  • Fenny Stratford lies on the southern edge of Milton Keynes. It has excellent transport links to London and the north. It is close to the M1 and A5, or the A421 if travelling from the east. Milton Keynes Central and Bletchley railway stations are both just a few minutes away by taxi.

What local facilities are there? Are there any nearby hotels?

  • You will find a variety of great restaurants, pubs and take-aways within walking distance of St Martin's, so you won't go hungry.

  • There are several hotels nearby including the Campanile (a two minute walk from St Martin's, although be warned that it's right opposite the LBGT 'Pink Punters' club and can be a little noisy at night), the Hilton Doubletree at the Stadium MK and two Premier Inns (Furzton and Caldecotte), all just a few minutes drive from St Martin's.

What are my parking options for the event?

  • There is a car park off George St, almost opposite the church. There is also limited roadside parking on Aylesbury St and other nearby streets.

What can I bring into the event?

  • Alcohol: We do not run a licensed bar, but you are very welcome to bring your own wine, or beer. We can supply glasses. There will be some soft drinks available for you to purchase.

  • Food: We recognise that this will be a long evening and you may start to feel peckish! You are welcome to bring your own snacks, or sandwiches to eat during an interval. Please be thoughtful towards the people around you and avoid anything too smelly! Additionally, there is a chippie next door to the church if you want to nip out. However, please don't bring your fish & chips into church. If you are not in a great hurry to get home after Webbstock, some of the local take-aways and restaurants will still be open.

  • Cameras: You may take photographs during the concert as long as they are not for commercial purposes.

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?

  • Please drop me an email: dk.webb@btinternet.com

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

  • Yes, please bring your Eventbrite confirmation with you
