The Animal Free Research UK Animal Free Antibody Database

Animal Free Research UK has launched the world’s first, Animal Free Antibody Database enabling researchers to easily find and procure animal-free antibodies. This tool aims to encourage researchers to embrace the alternative to animal-derived antibodies and achieve more reproducible and reliable experimental results, whilst working more ethically and cost effectively. This will ultimately yield scientific and societal benefits through improved life science and healthcare.

Dr Stephanie Modi, Animal Free Research UK scientist, will discuss how antibodies are currently used as biomedical tools, their demand and production and the benefits of animal-free alternatives over animal-derived antibodies. She will also describe how the new antibody database will work and the next steps needed to drive the uptake of animal-free antibodies in academia and industry.

Biography

Stephanie is a science projects and communications officer at Animal Free Research UK, which aims to create a world where human diseases are cured faster without animal suffering. Stephanie is formerly a research scientist, focussing on breast cancer-related lymphoedema during her PhD, a science communications manager at Cancer Research UK and a science teacher who now works on projects and communications to drive the uptake of animal-free methods in science and ultimately replace animals used in research.
