6th Annual Conference of the CDT in Advanced Composites for Innovation and...
Tue, 11 Apr 2017, 09:00
The aim of the conference is to provide you with an overview of research being undertaken by the CDT students across all years, and to give you an opportunity to explore ways in which you might engage with us, collaborating either on six-month extended research projects or PhD projects with students based in the CDT.
The conference will start at 9 a.m. with refreshments and a dedicated poster session. Our students will be standing by their posters during this time ready to greet you, to discuss their findings and answer any questions you may have.
Formal conference proceedings will then commence at 10 a.m. with an update on the CDT's activities by Prof Paul Weaver (CDT Director). Our CDT students will then showcase their research through a series of short presentations. The work that you will see represents research undertaken within the four main themes of the CDT, but the scope of the studies presented is very wide. For example, you will see elements of new manufacturing processes (3D printed patient specific hip implants), bio-inspired design (laminated composite plates based on fish anatomy), and sustainable development (closed loop recycling, and the design of efficient, robust wind turbine blades). A networking lunch and a further chance to view the students’ posters, and cast your vote in our poster competition, will follow at 12:30 p.m.
