Dr Rebecca Butler will be presenting a talk on “Challenges in Modern Drug Discovery”
Rebecca works as a Senior Lecturer Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University of Wolverhampton.
Rebecca’s research is focused on three areas:
- Antibiotics and competence in bacteria
- Lung retention of inhaled drugs
- Pedagogy in HE science education
The pharmaceutical industry can be a very secretive place, where research efforts are kept behind closed doors. This presentation seeks to demystify what goes on behind the scenes and will also look into why new drugs are so expensive. By the end of the session you should have an idea on the challenges associated in drug discovery and how some of these are being overcome.
