About this event

  • Event lasts 6 hours 30 minutes

In order to really understand how we work at RIC, and to get a better idea of our A level subject choices, we would like to invite you to visit us, meet our teachers, find out more about the subjects you are interested in, get to know our students and explore the campus.

The move to A level studies is a chance to specialise after the broad approach of GCSEs. We teach over 40 A level subjects at Rochester Independent College.

There will undoubtedly be A levels you have already decided upon but this taster afternoon is also an opportunity to talk to teachers in areas such as Psychology, Philosophy, Sociology, Classical Civilisation, Politics, Economics and other academic disciplines you may have no experience or knowledge in. There will also be further guidance on options if required.

You will be able to try 5 subjects at taster lessons during the day and enjoy a complimentary lunch in the college refectory.

To book please click the green REGISTER button above.

If you would like a virtual tour before the taster day, please visit our Virtual Open House.

Founded in 1984, Rochester Independent College is a day and boarding school offering a fresh alternative to traditional independent education for students from the age of 11 to 19 and boarders from 13. There is no uniform, students and staff are on first name terms and the average class size is 8. RIC focuses on the highest levels of academic achievement while retaining a creative buzz. The College provides first class GCSE and A level teaching, including successful retake programmes, to students aiming for top universities.

RIC’s Mathematics, Science, English Literature and Film Studies teaching have all won awards from The Good Schools Guide in recent years who also say: “It would be hard to find better provision for an artist.”

RIC occupies a historically distinctive site with listed Georgian buildings linked by award-winning wildlife gardens creating a unique sense of place in which to live, work and study. The campus is as unique as the school itself, with an underground theatre space, an outdoor classroom shaped like an igloo and steel sculptural musical gates that form a landmark piece of public art. All boarding is on site, in single rooms, some with ensuite facilities.

University destinations include Natural Sciences at Trinity College, Cambridge; Astrophysics at Edinburgh; Computing at Imperial; Medicine at Oxford; Veterinary Science at Liverpool; Law at LSEr; Aerospace Engineering at Bristol and Fashion Marketing at UAL’s London College of Fashion.
