8 Things Schools Can Do to Tackle the Climate Crisis
with Fiona Carnie
There is no planet B. Scientists have told us we have less than ten years to turn things round if we are to avoid a cataclysmic rise in the earth’s temperature. Ten critical years for children and young people growing up today. Time is running out and young people know that that they are the ones who will suffer the consequences of inaction. It is crucial therefore that schools play their part in tackling the climate emergency. Across the UK, 30,000 schools and 10 million students can make a difference.
Join this session to
- explore how to review your curriculum to help young people develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes to create a sustainable future
- identify those school policies which need to be revisited to prioritise a zero carbon future
- discuss how to involve all members of your school community in tackling this emergency
In the wake of COP26 there is a clear imperative to act. The government has published its draft climate change strategy for education with the aim of building a "world leading education sector in sustainability and climate change." Make sure that your school is part of the solution.
This workshop is for senior leaders, teachers and governors in both primary and secondary settings.
