This half day workshop is delivered by a specialist careers consultant, Sally Beyer.

  • Do you sometimes feel you are not clever/qualified enough?

  • Ever thought your success was down to luck rather than your ability?

  • Constantly struggling with self-doubt?

  • Are you scared that one day your colleagues will find you out as a fraud?

If you have ever asked yourself these questions you might be grappling with Imposter Syndrome.

In a safe and supportive environment, we will consider what imposter syndrome actually is, where it comes from and which groups of people are more likely to suffer from it. Along with identifying how it emerges, you will be introduced to life enhancing techniques that help you to respond to, and progress beyond, your imposter experiences.

By the end of this course you will be able to:

  • Understand what imposter syndrome is, recognise its prevalence and potential causes

  • Identify the different drivers, beliefs and behaviours behind it

  • Explore empowering knowledge, skills and practices to help us manage our imposter ‘symptoms’, growing our professional and personal confidence

  • Identify what you can do to change. Use a range of tools to decrease the impact of your imposter experiences and make positive, bold steps forward

  • Share insights and experience in a safe, courageous, supportive environment

  • Commit to taking your next steps and create an exciting action plan

  • Be equipped to assist others who might be struggling with this issue

This workshop offers opportunities to gain skills in Personal qualities, Self-management and Professional and career development, outlined in the RDF subdomains B1, B2 & B3.

Registration: You are recommended to use your University of Liverpool email to register on Eventbrite and then the calendar invitation will be added to your University calendar. We reserve the right to remove registrations of attendees who do not appear to be members of this University.
