Please note - all workshops start at 10 a.m. - we would be grateful if you did not arrive before 9.45. a.m.
Learn the basics of block patchwork on this full -day course with our expert quilter, Penny Dorward. Suitable for all, from beginners upwards, you will patch a lap quilt (42” x 42”) using a set of 'Disappearing 9 Patch' blocks. A lap quilt is great for wrapping round you as you snuggle on the sofa.
Please note—on this course you will only have time to make the quilt top—there will be another (optional) day to learn how to sandwich, bind and quilt it.
What we will provide:
Tea/Coffee and biscuits
What you will need to bring:
A packed lunch
We would prefer you to bring your own sewing machine, however if this is not possible we do have some machines you can hire for £5.
Fabric to make your quilt—you will need at least three different fabrics
3/4 metre of a light coloured plain fabric cut into 36 x 5” squares
3/4 metre of a patterned fabric, cut into 36 x 5” squares
Fat quarter of a plain dark fabric, cut into 9 x 5” squares
If you are uncertain about cutting accurate squares, we are happy to help you do this on the day. Also, you might wish to purchase a charm pack to use as your patterned fabric - the first photo shows a quilt made with a charm pack.
You can purchase a selection of fabrics at The Blue House from upwards of £8 a metre. If you have any questions about choice of fabrics please contact Alyson at The Blue House during opening hours.
