Description

Research for Impact in 999 Emergency Care

This year our conference theme is 'Research for Impact in 999 Emergency Care' and will be hosted by Scottish Ambulance Service and University of Stirling. The conference will take place in Stirling Court Hotel, Stirling on 27 March 2018. We are delighted to announce two exciting pre-conference workshop sessions and pre-conference networking, drinks reception and dinner, which will be taking place on 26 March, 2018.

The pre-conference workshops will be aimed at paramedics and researchers looking to develop skills in relation to writing a peer reviewed paper and planning research projects and getting it funded.

For the first time there will be a networking opportunity dedicated to researchers on 26 March, which will be free for those who would like to attend. The pre-conference drinks reception is also free for all delegates. This has been kindly sponsored by Stirling Council. To avoid disappointment please book early for both or either of these free events.

The pre-conference dinner will provide an opportunity for delegates to network with others who have an interest in pre-hospital care.

Accommodation is available for delegates at Stirling Court Hotel at £62.00 per night. Rooms can be booked using the link below:

Background

999 EMS Research Forum

The 999 EMS Research Forum is a UK based partnership that brings together academics and health-care providers with a research interest in emergency care. It has been actively promoting emergency care research since its formation in 1997. Board members come from a range of specialities and backgrounds and include paramedics, consultants in A&E and anaesthetics and academics.

Aims of the Forum:

  • To encourage, promote and disseminate research and evidence-based policy and practice in 999 health-care

  • To develop links between emergency health-care practitioners and the research community

  • To run an annual research conference providing an opportunity to disseminate research and run workshops to build research capacity

  • To continue developing international collaborations in prehospital care research

Each year the 999 EMS Research forum puts an open call for papers; submissions are peer reviewed and selected papers are presented at an annual conference. Prizes are awarded for Best Poster, Research Most Likely to Affect Practice, Most Innovative Use of Routine Data, and Highest Quality Research.

The UK Forum does not stand alone but in partnership with emergency care research forums in Australia and the US. The winner of the Highest Quality Research will be invited, and supported, to present their work internationally at one of our partner conferences.
