A briefing course on policy development under the Nature Recovery Green Paper and what this means for the future of Environmental Law in England.
This is a legal course for environmental professionals working in a development context as well as for planning authorities who need to prepare for the emerging trends in the Nature Recovery Green Paper. The course will present the law in a practical way, focussing on the practical implications of the suggest reforms which development professionals need to know.
The session will be a 90 minute (online via Zoom) briefing session on 20th July 2022 12.30 pm – 2.00 pm
Proposed reform of protected sites
The pros and cons of the proposed reforms to protected sites on land and at sea:
- Options 1, 2, 3
- Marine sites
- Nature Recovery Sites
Proposed reform of HRA
The proposed reform of the Habitats Regulation Assessment (HRA) process and findings of the HRA Working Groups (WG):

Speaker
Richard is the former Head of Legal Services at Natural England and has worked on a number of high-profile nationally significant infrastructure, planning, and species licencing cases. These include nuclear power stations, offshore windfarms, port developments and HS2 as well as judicial review challenges against Natural England. Richard worked with the Law Commission on the creation of conservation covenants and with Defra on the Environment Act 2021.
