Aston Rowant NNR is one of Natural England’s ‘flagship’ Reserves. It lies on the northwest scarp of the Chiltern Hills, overlooking the Vale of Oxford. The reserve supports one of the best examples of steep chalk downland in our area, with a very special flora and some special butterflies.
We will explore the steep slopes, looking for summer butterflies and day-flying moths. We hope to see Chalk Hill Blue, Adonis Blueand the rare Silver Spotted Skipper amongst a range of other flora and fauna.
I will be bringing a packed lunch to eat on-site. You are welcome to join me and chat about all things butterfly, moth and conservation over lunchtime.
