About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Wytham Woods is owned and managed by Oxford University and has an awesome history of ecological research (over 1,000 scientific papers!). This extensive site supports a mix of ancient woodland, plantations and limestone grassland, with smaller areas of other habitats.

We will explore the area, looking for its summer butterflies and day-flying moths. If we are lucky, we may see one of the scarcer species such as Silver-washed Fritillary, White Admiral or White-letter Hairstreak.

Accessibility & risks: mostly firm paths and easy walking. Wheelchair users can request gate combination numbers to ease access into the Woods. Please check for ticks after the walk and let the leader know if you have picked up any ticks. (Tick advice) Powered wheelchairs can access the main woodland track. Please email wytham.woods@admin.ox.ac.uk to arrange this.

Meet at the main car park, take the turning after the White Hart pub, then the private drive, shortly after, on the right.
