This event is the start of building social work fit for purpose in the context of intersectional racism.
This event begins a radical shift in the landscape of social work based on the situated experience of Black, Asian, and Racially Minoritized people. It is a call to action because we are ‘sick and tired of being sick and tired’ (Fannie Lou Hamer, 1964) of enduring dominant white Eurocentric social work approaches.
This event is a call for ALL Black, Asian, and racially minoritized people in social work (practitioners, activist, academics, researchers, experts by experience) to bring our counternarratives to tell our own stories about race as the foundation for Social Work in the context of intersectional racism.

This event responds to the words of the Black feminist activist Angela Davis:
We cannot go on as usual. We cannot pivot the center. We cannot be moderate. We will have to be willing to stand up and say no with combined spirits, our collective intellects, and our many bodies.’ (Davis, 2016: 145)
