In Everyday Extraordinary, lifelong Cambridge resident and photographer Martin Bond reflects on the journey that became A Cambridge Diary—a project that saw him post one photo of his hometown every single day for over 5,000 days. What began as a personal practice evolved into an archive of city life, drawing the attention of national and international media including The Guardian, BBC, and Smithsonian Magazine.

Through this talk, Martin shares how he found meaning in the mundane, beauty in the everyday, and rhythm in routine. With a photographer’s eye and a storyteller’s heart, he invites you into the quiet discipline behind his work, the emotional weight of daily documentation, and what it meant to press pause after more than thirteen years.

This session is perfect for anyone curious about long-term creative practice, visual storytelling, or the way photography can help us see the familiar in new ways. Martin also shares his recent shift into publishing, and the creative process behind his books Town & Gown and Time & Space, both drawn from his extraordinary archive.

Expect a heartfelt, honest look at time, place and persistence—and leave seeing your own world a little differently.
