‘Capsule Wardrobe’ is a term coined by Susie Faux, the owner of Wardrobe back in the 1970s. A Capsule Wardrobe is a collection of a few essential items of clothing that will not go out of fashion, such as skirts, trousers, and jackets, which can then be updated with seasonal pieces. This idea was popularised by the designer Donna Karan, who, in 1985, released an influential capsule collection of seven interchangeable work-wear pieces
Put simply, a Capsule Wardrobe is a colour coordinated group of garments that mix and match to form many different outfits.
A Capsule Wardrobe Makes Business Sense
If you own your own business, or work in someone else’s business your appearance is critical. How you present yourself creates a profound first impression, sets expectations for your prospects, creates a perception of your personal quality and value as well as that of your products or services, and can make or break a business deal. Your appearance is often your prospect’s first and most lasting idea of your business brand.
Building a Capsule Wardrobe is part of your business and personal brand development. It will provide you with the key pieces that communicate your personality as well as your qualities and values; it will ensure you always make a positive first, and lasting impression.
