A celebration of marionettes

Thursday 23 October, 5.30 - 9.30pm (arrive anytime)

The Art Workers’ Guild Outreach committee invites you to help us celebrate marionettes.

Join us for an evening of displays, talks, demonstrations and short performances with marionettes. There will even be a chance to have a go at operating a marionette puppet.

We will be exploring topics such as:

Carving techniques
Tailoring costumes
Recreating biological mechanics
Trick marionettes
Marionettes on film
Marionettes through the ages from Victorian times to the present
Opportunities to ‘have a go’.

Contributors include:

Alicia Britt & Anna Smith, Charlotte Cory, Sue Dacre, Michael Dixon & The National Puppet Archive, Keith Frederick, Roger Lade, Ronnie Le Drew, Laura Matthews, Quanimals Theatre Productions, Tatwood Puppets, Tony Sinnett, Jan Zalud and Soledad Zárate.

Entry is free, but booking is essential as places are limited.

Displays/demonstrations open from 5.30pm.

NB: Please note that we will be filming and taking pictures at this event.
