Event description

Description

Fri 9th & Sat 10th November 2018

Inverness Military Wives Choir invite you to join them for a 'Centenary of Song' to commemorate the centenary of the end of WW1. After a successful concert last November, we are holding this charity fundraiser over 2 nights this year. Our chosen charities are Poppy Scotland, British Legion Inverness and local charity, Mikey's Line. We hope to raise even more money for these wonderfully worthwhile charities, and we hope you will come along to help us support them.

This year is also 'Year of Young People', and to celebrate this, our special guests will be the Pipe Bands from the Inverness Royal Academy. We are delighted that Louise MacBain will return again this year, and new to our line up, Sgt Brian Taylor of the 7th Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland.

We will have guest speakers such as Inverness Provost, Councillor Helen Carmichael and Councillor Carolyn Caddick, both of whom have always been a great support to the choir and we are delighted they will be speaking this year. Members of Poppy Scotland, British Legion Inverness and Mikey's Line will also be providing insight into the charities they represent.

The Military Wives Choirs released an album - 'Remember' on Armed Forces day earlier this year, which Inverness Military Wives Choir joined with other Scottish choirs to record 3 songs for. The album was created , acknowledging this poignant occasion with a timeless commemoration, representing both the families at home and the soldiers, sailors and airmen who served, both then and now.The choirs have collaborated with internationally-renowned military musicians from across the services, composers and artists, to create an album like no other, with remembrance at it's heart. Inverness Military Wives Choir will be performing a selection of the album songs, along with some more, well known and traditional songs throughout the evening.

Lighting and sound will be provided by Limelight who do events such as Belladrum, so we are hoping they are going to really set the scene for us this year with wonderful sound and light.

The price of your tickets include refreshments at the interval - hot and cold drinks and a selection of home bakes.

There will be a raffle which will be drawn on Monday 12th November and all winners will be contacted shortly after - all profits from this will also go to our three chosen charities. If you would like to donate a prize as a stand alone item or to go into one of our hampers, please contact inverness@militarywiveschoirs.org and we will be delighted to organise collection of your item.

Wheelchair spaces are available, if you require one, please let us know so we can allocate you and your group a suitable area. We will need to know the size of your party so we can arrange to sit you all together. Email inverness@militarywiveschoirs.org

Join us for an evening to remember, and help us support these three wonderful charities in the process.
