A Climate Game - Workshop 2
Event Information
About this event
“With so much focus on children – who will have to live with the consequences of climate breakdown and ecological disaster, species loss and pollution – the role of education is key. …climate change barely figures on the national curriculum. … climate change could fit into subject areas across the curriculum, not just physics, chemistry, biology and geography but economics, history, social studies, media, arts and food technology.”
Fiona Harvey, Guardian Education Journalist, Feb 2020
There is a lack of awareness and education of the impact and action required to mitigate Climate Change, particularly within the education system.
Climate Change is not formally taught as a subject within the national curriculum. Xplorealms would like to develop an innovative, immersive, educational, fun and interactive Climate Change mobile games app to promote awareness of, and action required to mitigate, Climate Change. The game will enable storytelling, using the power of creativity to tell different stories about environmental impact and how to reach net zero, to supplement classroom based learning, home-schooling and create general awareness amongst children, parents, educators, schools and the wider community.
Workshop 2 will be attended by the Rt Hon Lord Jim Knight, ex-Minister for Education amongst other climate partners such as SE-ed and Let's Go Zero, educators, parents and young people.
This is the define and develop phase, this session is aimed at presenting all participants with ideas which are informed by our research as well as outlines of the prototype
Everyone is invited, no matter the age, expertise or location`!
