A Conversation About Panics with Richard Holloway
Wed 23 September 2015, 18:30 – 20:30 BST
We hope you will be able to join us at Looking Glass Books for this very special event.
In a world that is increasingly characterised as full of risk, danger and threat, can moral panic theory shed light on the social and sexual anxieties that periodically hold us in their grip? An evening of debate is promised in a lively run through the perils of internet abuse, feral families, revenge porn, and rioting youth - and the consequences of believing everything.
For this event, renowned writer, broadcaster and former Bishop of Edinburgh Richard Holloway meets the three editors of a new book on this controversial and compelling topic, Revisiting Moral Panics, which is also available in four bytes. Viviene Cree is Professor of Social Work Studies and both Gary Clapton and Mark Smith are Senior Lecturers, all at the University of Edinburgh.
This event is free but booking is essential. Please reserve your ticket through this Eventbrite page, by calling Looking Glass Books on 0131 229 2902 or asking in store.
