A Counselling Skills MOT: Getting Back To Basics
Thu, June 22, 2017, 9:30 AM – 4:30 PM BST
Put the core Link Centre Tutors together discussing our work and out pops the idea of a course that all 3 of us would like to attend.
After qualification, apart from in supervision, we generally operate one-to-one with clients and get very little ongoing feedback about our skills. Over time it is easy for us to come stale and fall in to bad habits without being aware of it.
We are offering a collaborative and practical skills course for practitioners from all theoretical approaches to revisit and re-practice the powerful core counselling skills and get growthful and constructive feedback from both the Tutor and your peers.
There is no pressure ‘to be the perfect counsellor or therapist’ and see this as our version of a skills ‘MOT’, which will also give the opportunity try out and experience different approaches and discuss the outcome with colleagues who understand the demands of the therapeutic role we undertake.
The course will operate with a maximum number of 8 delegates to facilitate in-depth group discussions.
This course is a pilot and should there be demand we will offer a follow on workshop developing skills further using creative interventions, two-chair work etc.
