A Covenant with the River Medway Estuary
Opening the Conversation
Come join us at Sun Pier House for a special event marking the World Rivers Day 2025 and exploring our connection with the River Medway Estuary.
In early September, Stephen Turner, Martin Booth and AD Taylor went out onto the water in two small craft to begin a dialogue with the river and with each other, about human relationships with tidal estuary waters. It is a time when humanity needs nature more than ever, but when nature possibly no longer wants us at all.
What is a covenant with the river?
In an age where we live badly with the rest of nature, what is our relationship with water?
Where are we going?
What should we do or not do?
What specific promises can we make?
What would breaching a covenant look like?
This event is all about opening a conversation appreciating the importance of our local waterways. The event starts with contributions from the three voyagers followed by informal Q&A group discussion. Whatever your interest in the River Medway Estuary, this event is an opportunity to deepen the understanding of this vital part of the Medway community. Don't miss out on this chance to add your voice in the conversation!
The event is held in the Sun Pier House Community Hire Space on the 1st floor.
