LIVE MUSIC
West Princes
West Princes are a 5 piece band from Glasgow known for their charming, breezy and dynamic layered sound of interwoven guitars and harmonies. They released their debut single, Wet Bark Is A Slug, on the Voidoid imprint, the brainchild of artist and Poetry Club founder Jim Lambie, back in January last year. A favourite of Franz Ferdinand, they supported Alex Kapranos' band at their secret show in Glasgow at the Rum Shack back in October, and have won scores of fans across the city for their fantastic live shows.
Hairband
A Glasgow DIY scene supergroup featuring members of the likes of Breakfast Muff, Rocky Lorelei, The Yawns and Lush Purr, the recently formed 5-piece are building up a steady following in the city. Nominated for this year’s SAMA Best Newcomer Award, they have not done too bad since playing their first show back in March at Freakender’s Spring Fling at The Old Hairdressers, with recent shows at The Poetry Club at Freakender's New Year's party at Mono going down extremely well.
Tongue Trap
Things started quickly for Glasgow band Tongue Trap, having signed to Edinburgh based Morningside Young Team Records after only 2 gigs. With grungy riffs about everything from period pants to the human condition, they launched latest release, E.P. Spring Cleaning pt.1, back in December with shows at Sneaky Pete's and Broadcast.
The Pale Kids
A band that expertly marry moments of pure serenity with the gritty, biting post-punk guitar-driven howls, we were completely blown away by The Pale Kids after seeing them support Shame at Broadcast back in April. Further shows supporting Eureka California at Sleazy’s and spanish indie heavyweights Belako at The Flying Duck reaffirmed our initial impressions.
