About this event

Join us for the birth of ‘kernowfuturism’ a mix of science fiction, history and fantasy. This emerging ideology is a mash up of creative expressions embedded in the identity of the black diaspora and its links to Cornwall.

Sound

The Gwedhen Project, connections between trees, people, and landscape.

Join Laurie Huggett to study Tehidys famous twisted beech tree, discover the ecology and folklore of Cornish woodland. Capture your ideas in words and learn some Kernewek to create a song and an immersive artwork.

Costume

Join Jollygoodh CIC to create scrap costumes with outer space and futuristic Kernow vibes.

Prizes will be awarded for the best ensembles. Suitable for all ages.

Spoken word

We invite local groups and individuals, to share their vision for the future and inspire us with powerful words from the past. This might be a poem, a speech, lyrics from a song or any words of hope and justice that shape their cause or help them to get out of bed in the morning. Dress is Kernow Futurist, grab the megaphone take your place on the soapbox. Bring a banner and stake your claim to the soil.

DJ Sounds like Cornwall playing the finest choirs of Kernow, connecting people across generations and geographic boundaries through vinyl.

Kennels cottage Gallery will be the location of The Active Looking Project annual exhibition, see the outputs from workshops, meet ups, challenges and partnerships.


Getting to ‘A day of radical reimagining’s for a better future’


Location

Weather permitting ‘A day of radical reimagining’s for a better future’ will take place in the camping field opposite Kennels cottage in the west of Tehidy Country Park. Please bring a camping chair or something to sit on.


By car

The camping field can be accessed via the North Cliffs Road, turning in at the sign marked for the Rangers Office, (the Rogue theatre entrance).

Public transport

We have an accessible shuttle bus from Camborne Railway Station, get in touch to book a seat.


By bus

The nearest bus stop is a 20 minute walk away at Eastern Lodge Carpark, it is a lovely walk if you have the time and energy.
