Event description

Description

On this day we will cultivate spaciousness of heart and clarity of mind to allow us to investigate what is really happening in our life. From this meditative space we can explore our habits, tendencies, and patterns of mind with an attitude of kindness. By skilfully softening the tendency to criticise and judge we can open to more of our experience and uncover greater depths.
We will utilise the Buddhist practices of mindfulness, compassion and wisdom to bring our practice closer to our life; nourishing our trajectory towards freedom.

This one day event will include silent and guided meditations, a Dharma talk, and time for questions and responses.

Suitable for beginners or experienced meditators. The day will be held in silence.

Nathan began meditating in 1997 and began teaching on silent meditation retreats in 2006. From a continued exploration of meditation on silent retreats grew a deep love of silence and the power of stillness. The realisation of the potential of every moment to become a moment of awakening provoked an exploration of meditation in daily life activities. An urge to offer retreats that offer deep connection in an active life led to the initiative in 2004 of SanghaSeva.

What is Dana?
The livelihood of most teachers depends wholly, or to a large extent, on the generosity and voluntary contributions from retreatants who value their guidance and wish to support the ongoing teachings of the Dharma. You will be given the opportunity to donate during the retreat.

Who can come?
All the retreats are suitable for beginners as well as those with experience of meditation practice.
We warmly welcome people of every age, ethnicity, cultural heritage and religious background, socio-economic group, ability, sexual orientation and gender identity to join us.

What should I bring?
Please bring anything you will need to be comfortable sitting, meditation cushions, pillows, a mat to sit on, a blanket etc. There are chairs available if you would like to sit on a chair.

We also ask attendees to bring a vegetarian dish to contribute to a shared lunch, which is held together and in silence.

What can i expect?
On the retreat, we ask you to arrive for registration between 9.15 – 9.45am. The retreat finishes around 5pm, and we ask that attendees commit to staying for the full day.

Each one-day retreat will be a day of sustained meditation, supported by an atmosphere of silence. The retreat is led by a teacher, and the structure of the day can vary. Typically the day includes periods of sitting and walking meditation, a dharma talk, and guidance on meditation provided by the teacher. Opportunities are provided to ask questions.
