A Fairer Food Future. Can Wales lead the way?
Come join us at the Abergavenny Food Festival Conference for a packed day discussing the future of food in Wales.
This is a time of unprecedented crisis of our own making. Wales alone faces an annual bill of £500m to cover the impacts of diabetes and 25% of children are overweight or obese before they start school. Farmers are struggling to keep their businesses viable and we are facing ecological collapse.Food is cheaper than ever before and yet many in our society cannot afford to maintain even a basically healthy diet. Consumption of UPFs continues to rise and there is a leadership vacuum in terms of the national diet.
So what can be done? Where are the policy levers than can drive change across the food supply chain to deliver a healthier Britain? And can Wales lead the way, through autonomy in procurement, health policy, farming support and nutritional regulation in schools?
Join the debate with a range of industry experts, policy commentators and food producers, to devise a manifesto for change that can deliver a healthier, resilient and fairer food future for Wales.
