A Film About Gaza and talk by Twickenham MP Dr. Tania Mathias
Where Should The Birds Fly is a powerful new film about Gaza Palestinian filmaker Fida Qishta. The screening will be followed by a discussion of the issues raised and reflections by Dr. Tania Mathias, MP for Twickenham, on her time in Gaza as a refugee officer for the United Nations.
The film tells the moving story of two young Palestinian women struggling for normality in the cruel abnormality of Gaza. It reveals the resilience of the human spirit, as the farmers, fishermen, merchants, school children, teachers and medical workers find ways to snatch a semblance of normality from the insanity. But what happens when the abormal becomes normal? What happens when children grow up among the rubble of their homes and cities, when they face the future as orphans coloured by the memory of their parents' violent deaths?
The event is free but you need to reserve your ticket in advance ( see below). Doors open 7pm. Free parking is available in Old Deer Park Extension car park from 6.30pm.
