Description

The British School of Upholstered Furniture are offering a four day course in any aspect of seat weaving.

An exciting class, where students working on their own chosen piece can also learn more about other seat weaving techniques from those around them

4 day open seat-weaving class

An opportunity for students to bring their own chair and work on the appropriate method for weaving the Seat.

Techniques can include:

Chair caning, rush seating, sea grass, close caning ,paper rush and experimental materials and alternative patterns.

Students will need to let us know their requirements before the class and we can make sure I have the materials and tools for their project.

Rachael is a third generation chair caner and seatweaver, taught by her father who learned from his father. Working From her studio in East London on antique and modern restoration and contemporary experimental seat weaving.

Rachael is also a member of The Basket Makers Association, Heritage Crafts Association and a Yeoman of the Worshipful Company of Basketmakers.
