Event description

Description

Leventis Visiting Professor, Professor François Lissarrague (CNRS, PARIS) will give the lecture 'On the Edinburgh painter: Style, stories and space' on 27 September 2017.

"The study of Attic Vase Painting has moved on after Beazley and his groundbreaking work. In this lecture, Professor François Lissarrague will use the so called Edinburgh painter as a starting point to reflect about three major aspects. First the importance of style and workshop traditions; second the construction of space, and the relation between the shape of the vase and the structure of the image on it; third on the narrative strategies developed by vase painters”.

A drinks reception will follow the lecture.
