To commemorate Refugee Week, Ciné Lumière, RBKC Refugees Welcome Committee and Migrants Organise are proud to present a free screening of Mary McGuckian’s A Girl from Mogadishu, a powerful and inspiring film inspired by the true story of Ifrah Ahmed.

Fleeing war-torn Somalia in 2006, Ahmed is trafficked to Ireland where a traumatic medical examination when seeking asylum reveals the extent of her mutilation as a child. Traumatised by the memory, she channels the experience into a force for change and emerges as a formidable campaigner against Female Genital Mutilation at the highest political echelons.

The film will be available to view anytime from 5:00pm 18th June for 48 hours, finishing on 20th June at 5:00pm. Simply register to receive the viewing link and password to watch the feature for free during this period.
