Delivered in partnership with Dynamic Earth this practical session makes explicit the links between STEM subjects across the curriculum and Global Citizenship. The session will showcase ways in which Dynamic Earth can support teachers in contributing to Scotland’s aspiration to be a STEM Nation inspiring, encouraging and enabling the next generation of scientists and engineers into STEM pathways at school and beyond. Through exploration of resources, methodologies and planning tools, primary teachers will be equipped to embed Global Citizenship in their teaching of STEM. The session will explore stimulating contexts which engage learners’ curiosity and help them to interpret data, explore patterns, problem-solve with time, interrogate and present data, whilst formulating ideas about the changing world around them, enabling children to learn, think critically and take action on global issues.

In this session, teachers will:

· Identify links between STEM subjects, Global Citizenship and the Primary curriculum.

· Showcase participatory methods for applying a Global Citizenship approach to STEM.

· Explore ways to plan primary STEM topics with a Global Citizenship approach.

· Highlight the many ways in which Dynamic Earth can support your practise and opportunities to engage with the organisation as a school.

· Signpost useful planning and practical resources to support you in taking action in the classroom.

Our courses are highly interactive, both to model the participatory global citizenship approach, and also so we can introduce activities and methodologies for use in the classroom. This course will make use of breakout rooms and simple digital participation tools (all necessary instructions will be given). It can be hard to participate fully on a phone or tablet, so we highly recommend you join the course on a desktop or laptop computer, with your microphone and video enabled.
