A Greener and More Accessible London: Achieving Environmental Inclusivity
Event Information
About this Event
Cross River Partnership invites you to join our next online, interactive learning session on Thursday 12th November, 2pm (GMT)! London's 3,000 parks currently cover 18% of the city, more than the area covered by London's railways and roads combined. Overall, London's green spaces cover 47% of the city and are undoubtedly the lungs of the urbanised landscape - not only do they reduce exposure to harmful pollutants and offer valuable space for communities to thrive, they have also been a vital asset to the capitals residents in supporting their mental and physical health since the COVID-19 pandemic started.
With overwhelming support for more green areas across London, how is accessibility and inclusivity being factored into the design and decisions being made for new spaces, and what can we learn from past projects to ensure all members of society can enjoy them?
Join us for an in-depth discussion with our expert guest speakers;
- Councillor Claire Holland, London Borough of Lambeth's Deputy Leader & Cabinet Lead for Sustainable Transport, Environment & Clean Air.
- Dr Tamara Djuretic, London Representative to the Association of Directors of Public Health (ADPH) UK Council, DPH Barnet.
- Isabelle Clement, Director of Wheels for Wellbeing
This online webinar will be hosted on LiveWebinar. A Google Chrome browser is the preferred option for joining the event (details and joining link will be provided in the registration confirmation email).
London Borough of Lambeth, home to many diverse communities, has the largest geographical area of any inner London borough, covering Brixton, Streatham, Clapham and Waterloo. The local authority provides services such as planning, social work, housing and schools to 303,000 residents and hundreds of businesses. Lambeth's 2017-2022 Air Quality Action Plan sets out the actions being taken to tackle air pollution and improve air quality.
The Association of Directors of Public Health (ADPH) London was formed shortly before the transition of public health services from the NHS to Local Authorities in 2013 and acts as a regional network of the UK-wide Association of Directors of Public Health. ADPH seeks to improve and protect the health of the population through collating and presenting the views of Directors of Public Health (DsPH); advising on public health policy and legislation; facilitating a support network for DsPH; identifying their development needs; and supporting the development of comprehensive, equitable public health policies.
