A Guide to AAC Service Development for Non-Specialist Services

This course gives participants an understanding of the remit of Speech and Language
Therapists working with AAC in a
non-specialised team and offers guidance
as to how SLTs and managers can develop a good service.
To reinforce understanding of the care pathway and the role of non-specialised and specialised services.
To discuss a range of AAC that comes under the remit of the non-specialised service.
To discuss routes to securing funding within a non-specialised service.
This course would be suitable for clinicians working with AAC and also service managers.

General - These sessions are aimed at those who may work with AAC/EC on an occasional or even regular basis and have a reasonable awareness and understanding of AAC/EC assessment and technology (e.g. Specialist school therapists, teachers, adult community therapists) Some prior knowledge of AAC terminology is assumed but a glossary of terms and background information will be provided before the session.
