David Gillies joined Essex Police in 1987 where he undertook a variety of uniformed and plain clothes roles, involving most aspects of modern policing including proactive and reactive investigative work. David also has extensive experience in Community Policing where his interpersonal skills enabled David to develop extensive supporting networks, many of which remain in place today. David achieved promotion which took him back to proactive policing. Upon retirement David trained as both a Crime Prevention Tactical Advisor and Designing out Crime Officer. Amongst his many accomplishments in this field was developing a in depth knowledge of vehicle crime which resulted in national recognition. David also developed a community garden safety programme which resulted in him receiving the "Ray Stannard" award for crime prevention. David has a keen interest in the effect of fraud on the vulnerable resulting in his taking the role of Prevent & Protect Fraud Officer, his role spans the whole of fraud but is focussed on protecting the public from falling victim to fraud and trying to prevent individuals from becoming involved in criminality.

- What are the effects of fraud on a victim?
- How does fraud reporting work?
