Description

Join Jane Fox and Emily Jolley on a leisurely walk from Glynde to Lewes and explore the beautiful landscape surrounding Mount Caburn through a series of artist-led creative activities. The day will consist of a series of short workshops and interventions by way of engaging with walking in the landscape. You will have the space and time to interact creatively with the landscape and will go home feeling refreshed and inspired.

Basic materials such as paper and pencils will be provided as well as a hot drink. Please bring a sketchbook, any materials you particularly enjoy working with and a phone/camera to record your findings. You will also need a packed lunch and a cup for a hot drink. Don't forget to wear appropriate footwear and clothing for a walk on the Downs - the weather can be unpredictable!

Jane Fox has developed an itinerant arts practice that embraces drawing, print, found matter, moving image, installation, walking and sound. Interconnected activities include artist led projects, collaborations and solo work for exhibition. Currently a member of InkSpot Press, Rocket Artists and Phoenix, Brighton, Jane is also a Senior Lecturer on Fine Art Printmaking at the University of Brighton.

Emily Jolley is a trained painter having gained a degree in Fine Art at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. She has been running art classes and workshops for many years in Brighton, Portsmouth and Greece. Her work was selected in The Sunday Times watercolour competition to be shown at the Mall, London. Emily's practice is currently based here at Phoenix studios.
