About this event

This easy to follow lecture will take a dive into the history and treatment of infectious diseases in Sheffield. The talk will cover how changes in disease transmission have changed the world we live in.

The lecture will cover the Sheffield cholera outbreak of 1832, as well as the history and legacy of the discovery of penicillin. Discussing how these important events and amazing discoveries have shaped Sheffield’s heritage.

This lecture will be given by Dr Andrew Fenton, a Lecturer in Microbial Diseases at the University of Sheffield and will be suitable for a general audience above the age of about 15.
