Hygge (pronounced ‘hue-gah’) is the Danish philosophy of cosiness and contentment. Hygge thrives in a country consecutively voted to be the happiest on earth. It encourages a feeling of warmth, comfort, and belonging – just right for Christmas. The author of The Book of Hygge, Louisa Thomsen Brits is coming to create a bit of Hygge with the idlers at a special candle-lit Christmas evening. She will be telling us about Hygge’s historical roots and explaining how we can bring a bit into our lives.
We’ll be sharing Hygge snacks from local restaurant Snaps + Rye and offering tea cups of Hendrick’s gin and tonic.
Our Hygge Christmas evening is held at The Idler’s headquarters at Great Western Studios. This is your chance to come and see us at our daily base.
We look forward to welcoming as many of you as possible. Louisa will be signing copies of her beautiful book – The Book of Hygge – the perfect Christmas present.
