Description

A Journey to the Ends of the Earth and the Bottom of the Sea: the Alexander Romance in Greek and Beyond

Join Dr Patrick James on a journey through the 'Alexander Romance', a fantastical account of the adventures of Alexander the Great, which takes him from Greece, through the Middle East and Central Asia, to India and, even, to China. Discover just how well travelled the 'Romance' is, as one of the most widely translated and adapted texts from Antiquity, with versions not only in Latin and Greek but also Armenian, Syriac, Persian, German, English, and even Mongolian!

For adults.

This event is part of the University of Cambridge's Festival of Ideas. For more events across the city, check out http://www.festivalofideas.cam.ac.uk.

**Bookings will open at 10:30am on Monday 26th September.**
