27 January 2022 18:30 - A Watercolour workshop with Mark Entwisle

Up to 2 hours - Online via Zoom

Figurative watercolour painting, colour mixing, tonal values and other tips and techniques.

You will need:

- A4 or A3 pad (Mark's preference is Hot Press ( smooth ) paper)

- Watercolours sets (Mark uses Magenta and Cobalt turquoise a lot)

- #3 sable brush (however a larger brush could be helpful)

- Not essential - a half inch decorators / varnishing brush for big washes

1 February 2022 18:30 - A mono-printing workshop with Sam Marshall

Up to 2 hours - Online via Zoom

A workshop covering additive, reductive and transfer techniques in mono-printing.

You will need:

- Block printing ink

- A piece of glass or plastic for rolling out ink

- Lightweight paper/ paper for printing onto

- Roller

- Wooden spoon or burnisher

- Paintbrushes

- Pencils

- Cotton buds

- Rags for removing ink

Sam Marshall

Sam began print-making over 15 years ago – originally training at the Slade School of Fine Art and completing her studies at the Royal Drawing School with an MA diploma in drawing. Having lived in London for over 20 years she recently relocated to rural Northamptonshire with Miss Marple her mini dachshund where she now concentrates on printmaking from her garden studio and running online printing and drawing workshops. She is currently working on a book about linocut which will be published by Bloomsbury in early 2022.

Mark Entwisle

Mark studied printmaking at Cambridge College of Art and Technology, and then completed a degree in illustration at Brighton. He went on to work as an illustrator for 15 years, with clients including Penguin, Random House and the National Theatre. During this time he began to exhibit, and in 1990 Mark had his first exhibition at Beaux Arts Bath.

“In 1999 I was delighted to have a portrait accepted for the BP Portrait Award at the National Portrait Gallery,” Mark recalls. “I had another accepted the following year and received a commendation in 2002. This led to my first portrait commission and marked the start of my career as a portrait painter.”

Other key prizes include the RA Summer Show, Royal Society of Watercolours, The Discerning Eye, The Lynn Painters-Stainers Prize and most recently first prize in The Sunday Times Watercolour Competition.
