Frequently asked questions

Who is this session for?

This live session is ideal for students who have just completed Year 12 (AS Chemistry) and are preparing to start Year 13. It’s suitable whether you’re revising, catching up, or aiming to strengthen your understanding of moles before the new school year.

Is the session suitable for all exam boards?

Yes. The session covers core mole concepts relevant to AQA, OCR, Edexcel, and CIE exam boards. Where content diverges, we’ll highlight key differences and exam board-specific notes will be provided after the class.

Who is the tutor?

The session is led by Dr Marguerite Quinn, lead instructor at ChemistryTutor.Online. She has a PhD in Chemistry, a Master's in Education, and a PGCE from the University of Cambridge, with over 3,400 hours of tutoring experience in A-Level Chemistry.

How many students will be in the session?

Each session is capped at 5 students to ensure an interactive, supportive environment with plenty of opportunity for questions and tailored guidance.

What if my camera or microphone doesn’t work?

While cameras and microphones are not mandatory, we strongly encourage students to keep cameras on and be in a quiet environment so they can participate fully and gain the most from the session. Microphones can be muted when not speaking.

Will the session be recorded?

No — to protect your privacy and create a safe learning space, sessions are not recorded and will not be shared with anyone, including other students or third parties.

Do I need to bring anything?

Yes — please bring a calculator, a pen and paper, and be ready to work through live problems during the session.

Will I receive any notes after the class?

Yes. All students will receive summary notes, a practice question pack, and any exam board-specific content as a PDF after the session.

What topics are covered?

This session focuses on mastering moles, including: Avogadro’s number Molar mass and molar volume Limiting reagents Empirical/molecular formulas Reacting masses and gas calculations

Can I ask questions during the session?

Absolutely! These sessions are designed to be interactive. You can ask questions at any time, either by speaking or using the Zoom chat box.

What if I’m shy or unsure?

That’s totally fine. You're welcome to observe quietly or participate when you’re ready. Dr Quinn creates a friendly, no-pressure atmosphere where all students feel comfortable.

Is there a refund policy?

Refunds are available up to 24 hours before the session begins. After that, we can offer a transfer to a future date (subject to availability), but not a refund.

What if I miss the session?

As the session is not recorded and places are limited, we recommend attending live. If you miss the session due to an emergency, please get in touch — we’ll do our best to help you reschedule.

Can I share my login link with a friend?

No — each booking is valid for one student only. The Zoom link is unique to you. Sharing it would violate the terms of the session and compromise the small group experience.
