Imogen Taylor - In conversation with John Benson

This event is a very rare opportunity to hear directly from one of the initial creators of the highly influential Country House Style of decoration. Imogen and John will discuss interiors, characters, craftsmen and clients from the 1940s to the 2000s – including her work at Ramsbury Manor for three owners over three decades.

Described by House & Garden Magazine as ‘Legendary’ and the ‘Crown Princess’ to John Fowler’s ‘Prince’ of Decorators, Imogen Taylor was at the heart of interior decoration for over 50 years. John Fowler was perhaps the most influential decorator of the 20th century and as his ‘right hand’ it was Imogen Taylor “who made things happen.” When he retired Imogen became Fowler’s successor as the principal decorator of the international decorating firm, Sibyl Colefax & John Fowler.

John Benson first visited Ramsbury Manor in the 1980s and has been captivated by it ever since. He’s a consultant to The Ramsbury Manor Foundation and a member of The Worshipful Company of Art Scholars.
