Event description
As an experienced manager you know how to motivate people, organise work and create the conditions for teams to succeed.

About this Event

There’s a risk in a more virtual world that teams and projects can become disconnected and function sub-optimally. This masterclass explores how to nurture high performing, connected teams.

SDN has been a virtual organisation since its inception in 2006. All our staff, teams, services and projects are managed virtually and always have been. Over the years, we’ve learned lessons about how to operate effectively online and virtually. Our core business is CPD for learning and skills professionals, supporting others to be effective at delivering training, teaching and assessment.

The masterclass for experienced managers on managing virtual teams brings together our experience as a virtual organisation with our expertise in learning and skills. It aims to give you confidence and tools to develop your way of managing virtually that builds on your experience and personality and fits your organisation’s culture and ambitions.

The Masterclass will take place on Tues 1 December – 1.00 – 4.30pm, during the masterclass you will explore how to:

Read and develop the connectedness of your team

  • What is connectedness?
  • How do you read it as a manager?
  • How do you develop it?

Structure your online interactions for performance, productivity and creativity

  • Understanding different styles of online conversation such as meetings for project planning and management, creative sessions, staff and team meetings, and learning and development sessions
  • Managing the room, dealing people in and out of conversations
  • Scribing and shaping the conversation

Understand, encourage, nurture and embed effective online behaviours in your team

  • Working together on-screen -v- Being together on-screen
  • Virtual management by wandering about (VMBWA)
  • Supporting team members to get the most out of working from home

Before the masterclass we’ll send you a short diagnostic to help you and us understand:

  • What have you found difficult, what worries you or frustrates you about online management in your organisation and personally?
  • What are you and your organisation good at?
  • What sorts of meetings do you have online?

During the masterclass we will use interactive techniques to deeply involve you in exploring how you manage virtually. The session will be fast paced, with appropriate breaks, and we promise it will fly. The masterclass will demonstrate how we run our online sessions!

The 3½ hour masterclass is limited to 20 delegates to give you time to reflect, fine tune and learn with your peers.

By the end of the masterclass you will be able to build your own checklist for how you want to manage virtually, and immediately make a difference to your management practice.

You can book onto the Masterclass for £155 (+vat).
