A Morning with AuKids Magazine
Mon 12 June 2017, 11:00 – 13:00 BST
11am: Tim Tuff, autism advocate and aukids volunteer presents:
JAM ON A MARMALADE DAY?
The world is a wavy line, when Tim needs it straight. It’s a struggle, but one he’s determined to master. Tim’s insight into his own autism is a gift to the rest of us. Positive thinking has helped him face many challenges and come up smiling.
Tim’s ability to see autism from an outsider’s viewpoint and translate his personal experiences for others is really something special. He talks about social and sensory issues and his strategies for overcoming anxiety caused by change. All told with the positivity and humour you’ve come to expect from the AuKids magazine team!
‘At the end of the talk, so many parents were saying I feel like I understand my child better’. – Natalie Mabbett, Severndale School
12pm: BOBBY AND ALEC ARE IN THE BUILDING!
Debby Elley (pictured on the right in our photo) has 13 year-old twins with autism and is also the co-editor of AuKids magazine. A positive and humorous outlook has enabled her to cope with many trials and tribulations as well as develop her twins' ability to negotiate a non-autistic world. Here, she shares the most important lessons she's learnt in being what she calls a 'Spectrumite Mum' for over a decade.
