A Music Business For A Grand is a competition where participants pitch a music industry-related business idea/project as a 50:50 joint venture with BBM/BMC to a panel Dragon Den-style. Those pitching must show that they can actualise the idea or project within a 6 month timeframe* and with a maximum cash investment of £1000**.
Applicants must participate in the Making Sense Of How The Music Industry Works & Preparing A Music Business Plan Workshop.
…Grand participants get a £5 rebate on cost of Workshop.
…Grand winner has Workshop cost refunded.
Pitches are oral and no more than 10 minutes, and supported by 2 page business proposal outlining organisational, financial and marketing plans.
*Although the project can continue after the 6 month period, evaluation of viability will be based on the first 6 month period
**Whilst some amount of in kind contribution will be accepted, total cash required to realise the project must not exceed £1000
***Amount awarded is a grant is recoupable, but winner will not be liable to return award if business fails or does not generate profit
****The award is made on the basis of being a 50:50 equity partner. It can provide advice, and may where necessary, ptrovide business mentor for winner
*****The panel reserves the right not to make an award if it concludes that no pitch made a convincing argument for a viable idea or project within set period, or showed ability to deliver.

This year, we've got open days on most Fridays and Saturdays during BBMM2013.
We'll be at the Coming Soon Club in Wembley (at the Triangle by the Harrow Road traffic lights; Wembley Stadium, Wembley Park, and Wembley Central stations are within walking distance or you can hop on a bus):
June Fri/Saturday 14/15, 21/22, 28/29 and July Fri/Saturday 5/6, 12/13, 19/20.
Though it's meant as walk-in open days and we're committed to be there 12noon to 8pm (4pm on July 20), opening times and access may vary (sessions that require pre-booking will be indicated/updated below), so you're welcome to check updates on this page, email us, or give us a call on 07952 740 369 (only on the day).
Our Coming Soon Club sessions will be a time for you to come and visit us for:

catch a bit of a film
browse or buy records, books, artefacts and assorted bits & bobs and bargains
a course or workshop
a cup of tea
a turntable demo
We'll have some vinyl and CD decks; have tea and help raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care and Akoben Awards; plus the Veteran's Front Room Talking Vinyl & Music Industry Memories, where you can hear in an intimate atmosphere a music veteran reminiscing about his time in the music industry - he or she may jump on the decks to give you an aural flavour of what they're talking about, and you can definitely ask them questions, and network!
This sessions needs pre-booking. Because although it's taking place within a walk-in open space, priority will be given to those who've actually pre-booked for this particular session.
