Event description

Description

Prospect will be participating in the TUC’s march and rally for ‘A new deal for working people’, to be held in London on Saturday 12 May.

The march and rally will be, inclusive, family-friendly, non-sectarian and safe. It will start with a traditional march through London ending in Hyde Park with a rally with speakers.

Route and rally

The march will assemble on the Embankment between Hungerford Bridge and Blackfriars Bridge from 11am. It will move off at 12pm and march to Hyde Park. Details on where Prospect members will assemble will be provided closer to the time.

The rally will take place in Hyde Park, finishing at 4pm.

Accessibility

We want to make sure the event is accessible to everyone who wishes to join it:

There will be a short march for those who are do not wish to do the full route.
• There will be an assembly area for wheelchair/scooter users on the Embankment for which we will be able to arrange drop-off through road closures with advance notice from unions.
• There will be a viewing platform in Hyde Park for wheelchair/scooter users.

Register Attendance

Prospect is hoping to have a good attendance on the march. If you intend to come to the march and rally then please register above. Registering your attendance will enable Prospect and the TUC to know the rough delegation size expected from each union, and allow us to prepare accordingly.

If you have any questions about the event please let us know via the website and we will respond as soon as possible.

Transport

The TUC will book parking for coaches. You can find out about it and book a space on the TUC website. It is expected that regional TUC’s will be providing coaches; details of this will be provided closer to the date.

Branches can provide expenses out of their own budgets but if you require financial assistance to attend this will need to be agreed in advance of the march. Please contact your negotiator.

The key tube stations will be Blackfriars, Southwark and St Pauls. Temple is likely to be closed due to the expected crowd size. When arriving attendees will be expected to find their delegation slot by joining from the rear of the march.
