The announcement of a launch of a new party of the left by Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana has had an electric impact.
Within 48 hours over 400,000 had signed up to indicate their interest.By the time you read this that number will have increased significantly.By the time we meet up next Thursday to discuss the significance of this for the left nationally and in particular in our corner of north Derbyshire, who knows what the number will be?
The announcement from Corbyn and Sultana comes at an urgent time. Labour has become a party of genocide and warmongering, austerity and attacks on disabled people, racism and transphobia.A left alternative with Corbyn, Sultana and others has the potential to show the left can hit back at Starmer, the far right and the system.
