Event description

Description

The event is organised by the Psychology Society to shed light on issues such as inequality, racism, mental health and freedom, at this time when many have lost hope amidst conflicts, terrorism, environmental destruction, economic inequality and the breakdown of democracy.

The International Panel of Social Progress`s (IPSP) manifesto is named `Rethinking Society for the 21st Century` and the panel of 300 world’s leading researchers from social sciences and the humanities come together in a single effort to develop research-based, multi-disciplinary, non-partisan, action-driven solutions to the most pressing challenges of our time. The Panel has no partisan political agenda but aims at restoring hope in social progress and stimulating intellectual and public debates. Different political and philosophical views may conceive of social progress in different ways, emphasizing values such as freedom, dignity, or equality.

The event will comprise of an interactive talk and discussion on social progress areas focusing on chapters of the IPSP followed by a screening of the documentary ‘A New Society’ produced by Sofie Wolthers, who will be attending the event from Amsterdam! The panel has found solutions to societal challenges of our time and ‘A New Society’ brings light to these issues by interviewing members of the IPSP. The documentary touches on issues of racism, sexism, religion, fake news and more.
